Notifications & Preferences
Configure how and when you receive notifications across channels and activity types
Notifications keep you informed about activity in your workspace — mentions, task assignments, state changes, and more. You control which notifications you receive and how they're delivered.
Notification Types
| Type | When it fires |
|---|---|
| Mentioned | Someone @mentions you in a message |
| Assigned Task | A task is assigned to you |
| Task State Changed | A task you're involved with changes state |
| Task Due Soon | A task you're assigned to is approaching its due date |
| New Message | A new message is posted in a channel you follow |
| Credit Alert | Your workspace AI credits are running low |
| Connector Deactivated | A connector loses its connection |
Viewing Notifications
Click the bell icon in the sidebar (or use Cmd+Shift+U / Ctrl+Shift+U) to open the notifications panel.
Filtering
Filter notifications to focus on what matters:
- All — Every notification
- Unread — Only notifications you haven't read yet
- Mentions — Only @mention notifications
- Tasks — Task assignments, state changes, and due date reminders
Reading Notifications
Click a notification to mark it as read and navigate to the relevant item (message, task, or resource). Unread notifications have a visual indicator.
Mark All Read
Click Mark all read at the top to clear all unread notifications at once. Useful when catching up after time away.
Notification Preferences
Navigate to Settings > Notifications to configure your preferences. You can control notifications at two levels:
Per-Type Settings
For each notification type (mentioned, assigned task, etc.), choose which delivery channels are active:
- In-App — Toast notification and bell icon badge (enabled by default)
- Email — Email notification to your account email
- Push — Browser push notification (requires browser permission)
Per-Channel Settings
Override notification settings for specific channels. For example:
- Mute a noisy channel while keeping mentions active
- Enable push notifications only for critical channels
- Disable new message notifications for low-priority channels
Default Behavior
If no preference is explicitly set for a type or channel, notifications are enabled by default for in-app delivery.
How Agents Trigger Notifications
AI agents can trigger notifications through their actions:
- @Mentioning you — If an agent mentions you in a response, you get a "mentioned" notification
- Assigning tasks — If an agent creates a task and assigns it to you, you get an "assigned task" notification
- State changes — If an agent updates a task's state, relevant people get "task state changed" notifications
This means agent activity flows through the same notification system as human activity — no separate inbox to check.
Real-Time Delivery
Notifications are delivered in real-time:
- In-app toasts appear immediately in the corner of your screen
- Sidebar badge updates the unread count instantly
- Mobile receives updates in real-time when the app is open
Tips
- Use channel-level overrides — Keep global notifications on, but mute specific high-traffic channels
- Enable push for critical channels — Browser push ensures you don't miss urgent notifications
- Check the tasks filter — When catching up, filter to "Tasks" to see assignments and state changes first
- Mention notifications are always valuable — Keep "Mentioned" notifications enabled across all channels; these are direct requests for your attention
